Care of your trophy
It starts before you pull the trigger the best mounts are killed quick shot well and not killed in mud puddles.
The shot
shoot your bird if at all possible in the upper neck and head the fewer feather shot the better. when he hits the ground get to him. If you a comfortable with it pick him up by the feet. Don't touch the feathers while the bird is dyeing. If your not able or comfortable with picking up a thrashing 20lb. bird! Step on his HEAD do not step on the neck feathers after your bird has quit lay him on the cleanest most debris free place you have! Don't rough him up get him to me a quick as possible! If you have to freeze him put a paper towel in his mouth a bag over the head and tie it were the skin meets the feathers! Put him in a couple of trash bags as carefully and neatly as possible and place him in the freezer taking care of the tail feathers and wing tips!
